~ one banana, two banana, three...~

it is almost 2 in the morning (manila time) and i am still up waiting for files to be uploaded in order for me to download. a normal occurrence whenever we have an upcoming event. for those of you who wants to know what are the basic necessities for an event planner, here's a checklist (in no particular order):
  1. a dsl net connection - the least! i don't know if i will still be sane if i am still on dial-up; this should come with the know-how what sites are useful for the job...
  2. a notebook and pen - don't leave the house without it, even if you're not going to a meeting
  3. electric tape (or whatever you call that measuring thingie) - the longer the better especially if your venue is a grand ballroom with high ceiling
  4. mobile fone - with a phonebook filled with contacts (ask my brother whose numbers are in my mobile); it would also come in handy if you have a phone camera, calendar, calculator and timer; it can also work as a flashlight!
  5. different colors of highlighters or dermatographs - or it depends on how you want to manage or organize your lists
  6. connections - suppliers, hotels, caterers, photographers, carpenters, etc. - plus points if they are all your friends!
  7. gadgets and thingies - i would like to thank my sponsors (hehehehe!) for my digicam (ocular and documentation + after event camwhoring!), ipod (instead of bringing cds!) and laptop (for everything!!)
  8. blouse/shirt, slacks, sandals/flats, bag - all must be in black, imperative for people who are part of the production so as to be discrete in running the show
  9. coffee/energy drink + food - to keep you going at least 24 hours before, during and after the event
  10. supportive family and friends - to share the ups and downs with; to share the highlights of your day, of the event; and for the words of comfort...

i have not posted an update about the october event...maybe after the november 11 event...or after the december 10 in cagayan de oro...wait, maybe after the school term since i have 5 more mini-thesis papers to submit!

btw, if you want to be an events planner...be sure that you have lots of patience, tolerance for stress and good time management (still working on it!). it's fun, when you get the hang of it! plus, you have the reason to get a good massage after...*grins*

The Journey Continues

The journey continues to Roosevelt Avenue.

Yup... Officially we have moved. I have notified the postal office and work on my address change and that makes it official. Of course, I wouldn't post my actual address but to say the least we moved up just a couple of blocks.

This could eventually be the last entry I will type out in my old (actually, my very first!!) apartment.

Fatigue and excitement rolled into one. That's how I feel right now.

I better start my walk back to my new apartment. I still need to drag a bag of shoes and a couple of shirts. Hopefully by Sunday we'd be done.

Moving Out

It's been a week since we came back from Manila and now, we are moving out to a new apartment. The first time my brother saw the place, he got so excited that he told me all about it over the phone (and he saw two apartments that day). We are now moving into a two-bed room and two full-bath apartment with veranda and rooftop access with a view of the city - especially great for Fourth of July.
I am so ecstatic about getting my own room, my own space. I also love the kitchen, since the building is newly constructed all the kitchen appliances were all new - there are actually numbers on the oven dial! The counter space, work area, is also spacious. Bubbles is also excited about the new apartment, she loves the stairs (did I mention it's three flights up?) and she just loves to run around from the dining to my bedroom to my brother's room.
Although my body isn't really feeling it yet (due to the excitement) I am so exhausted. There still so much things to be done and packed. We've been walking to the new apartment and back almost three times now... and I am supposed to meet up with some friends for dinner, but all these are worth it. Talk about losing weight and getting fit! :)
Well, I hope that before the end of this year we would be settled in and move forward with life.

~ why oh why ~

Been sleepless for several nights now...
Been (trying to!) work on this paper for several days now...
Been blaming our prof for being a sadist...masochist...
Been very confused with several theoretical frameworks, concepts and innovations...
Been asking ourselves (sharing same angst with friends) why we are in this stress and pressure...

Oh yes, I forgot...this was...this is my choice. I'll get my MBA degree, no matter what!!

Konti na lang...konting konti na lang...
I just need the push and moral support from time to time... :)
