Being Connected

I can't imagine the world without email, cellphone, instant messenger and blogs. For some people, it's a past time, a fad and means of doing business. For our family it's a way of being connected and maintaining the relationships we have grown to enjoy (with all craziness included!).

Growing up, dinner was always a time where everybody shares their stories of the day. Now that dinner is on different time zones and schedules, blogging and instant messaging takes over. You get a glimpse of Achi Girlie's events , my nurse sister Jen's hospital adventures and usually my angst and musings. With the advent of digital camera's, the happenings in SoHo gets viewed in Makati and the family beach vacation in Batangas gets viewed in Manhattan two hours after getting off the car.

There is no replacement for the physical presence but technology have been a great tool in our lives. And of course, care packages that gets delivered from time to time is a great addition. Can't wait for the Manila package!

Today I Write

As I type in these words, Alicia Keys is on the background, my hands are in splints (due to wrist pains) and I am all alone in the office.

I haven't posted for awhile and that shows you how much of things have been happening. There have been highs and lows. Reflections and realizations. Laughter and tears. Just like any Hollywood movie, the protagonist wins at the end... be it a beautiful maiden, a chest full of gold or simply a happy beginning.

I have been on a cycle lately. I go to come to work at 8. Have lunch at 12. Go home at 4. Watch the news at 5. Eat dinner at 6. Retreat to my room at 7. Be in bed by 8. Fall fast asleep at 10. I don't like it. I guess I fell into that cycle because of the things going on around the office. I need to move on and find things do to. Things to keep my mind busy that is far from work.

Maybe I just need time for myself.
