~ one banana, two banana, three...~
it is almost 2 in the morning (manila time) and i am still up waiting for files to be uploaded in order for me to download. a normal occurrence whenever we have an upcoming event. for those of you who wants to know what are the basic necessities for an event planner, here's a checklist (in no particular order):
- a dsl net connection - the least! i don't know if i will still be sane if i am still on dial-up; this should come with the know-how what sites are useful for the job...
- a notebook and pen - don't leave the house without it, even if you're not going to a meeting
- electric tape (or whatever you call that measuring thingie) - the longer the better especially if your venue is a grand ballroom with high ceiling
- mobile fone - with a phonebook filled with contacts (ask my brother whose numbers are in my mobile); it would also come in handy if you have a phone camera, calendar, calculator and timer; it can also work as a flashlight!
- different colors of highlighters or dermatographs - or it depends on how you want to manage or organize your lists
- connections - suppliers, hotels, caterers, photographers, carpenters, etc. - plus points if they are all your friends!
- gadgets and thingies - i would like to thank my sponsors (hehehehe!) for my digicam (ocular and documentation + after event camwhoring!), ipod (instead of bringing cds!) and laptop (for everything!!)
- blouse/shirt, slacks, sandals/flats, bag - all must be in black, imperative for people who are part of the production so as to be discrete in running the show
- coffee/energy drink + food - to keep you going at least 24 hours before, during and after the event
- supportive family and friends - to share the ups and downs with; to share the highlights of your day, of the event; and for the words of comfort...
i have not posted an update about the october event...maybe after the november 11 event...or after the december 10 in cagayan de oro...wait, maybe after the school term since i have 5 more mini-thesis papers to submit!
btw, if you want to be an events planner...be sure that you have lots of patience, tolerance for stress and good time management (still working on it!). it's fun, when you get the hang of it! plus, you have the reason to get a good massage after...*grins*
